Here we see the very last weekly issue before the paper rationing came into effect. This was to last until the 30th July 1949. You might just be able to make out the comment on the top of this issue of Dandy (#196), dated 6th September 1941. It reads, "The Dandy now appears Every Second Tuesday, next issue on sale Tuesday September 16th". The Beano also did this and was sold on the alternative week to the Dandy. A nice idea!

As well as Korky The Cat on the front cover, this issue had a full page of Desperate Dan, Our Gang (which still used speech balloons within the pictures AND text narrative under them). Jimmy's Pocket Grandpa (text story), Jock McSwiper - The Dandy Piper, Hair-Oil Hal - Your Barber Pal, Grandma Jolly - And Her Brolley, Boomerang Burke (adventure story), Centipede Pete - With The Handy Feet.

The page count was 16 (issue #1 was 28), it had three text stories, which were all two pages long. Two 'text-under-the picture' stories, both two pages long with the remaining 6 pages being occupied by strips with speech balloons.

More severe paper rationing was still to come.
