Edwin J. Brett's publishing empire from the 1860's had been superseded by Alfred Harmsworth during the 1890's, but Brett wasn't giving up without a fight. On the 2nd November 1894 he released his very popular Halfpenny Surprise which went on for exactly 600 issues until the 28th April 1906.

Notice the spelling mistake at the top in the 'Now Ready' section - the word 'Of' is used instead of 'Off'.
