Re: The Buster Index
Yes, that's the cover. I got the book from Book Palace and it appears to be in brand new, unused condition. I had assumed it was new old stock left over from the original run, though from what Ray says perhaps new copies are still being made. Anyway, as I say the pages are all back to front and seve...

The Buster Index
Finally got round to getting a copy of the Buster Index by Steve Holland / Ray Moore, which has proved to be excellent so well done to them. One random point though - the pages seemed to be bound back to front. Ray's article on the History of Buster starts on the last page of the book, and you then ...

Re: the Beezer 1973
Well, my Topper Tales arrived today, and I must say it's excellent. I can only imagaine the amount of research that goes into something like this. Fantastic job Kashgar, I know it's going to prove invaluable - thanks for writing it! As for Book Palace, I ordered the book yesterday afternoon and it c...

Re: Are we dumbing down comics for today's kids?
Talking of not-quite-swearing, there was a Joker strip in Buster once which featured a bag of manure with the partially obscured label HORSE SH

Re: the Beezer 1973
That's exactly what I'm after.. will definitely have to pick up the Beezer and Topper volumes. I see bookpalace.com has the Topper, Dandy and Beano volumes.. so might go there unless you know of a better vendor? (I assume you don't sell them directly or anything?) As for the Book of Beezer I guess w...

Re: will there be any more dandy/beano reprints from aurum press
Yeah sorry I was somewhat lumping Classics From The Comics and the annual reprints together when they're actually quite seperate cases.. rambling a bit probably. Hmm, if there's so little interest in the really old comics, I wonder if Aurum will keep doing these reprint annuals, or if last year's Oo...

Re: will there be any more dandy/beano reprints from aurum press
Of course, all these comics were written, drawn and published with the sole intention of being bought by/for and read by children. But although it's the exact same comics being published again, they're being published for a different intended audience than they were last time round. The original com...

Re: the Beezer 1973
According to my trusty copy of Kashgar's invaluable (and sadly out of print) Book of Beezer ... Would I take it this is some sort of guidebook with info on strips, dates, etc? That's something that would be very interesting to me.. Does it ever crop up on ebay or such?? Would you be able to give me...

Re: will there be any more dandy/beano reprints from aurum press
I hope they will do some more reprints.. As for the racist content, I'd've thought thought it was pretty clear the books are intended to be adult collectibles. No kid today is going to go into a bookshop and pick up a black and white "1940 Annual".. (in fact no kid today is going to go into a booksh...

1939 Dandy Book in shops now!
Hmm, why do the Broons and the Dandy facsimile both say "1939 Annual" on the sleeve, when the Dandy one was published in 1938 for 1939 and the Broons one was published in 1939 for 1940? They seem to have used the year published dating system for the Broons and the year-published-for system for the D...

Thanks for the tips, I believe Cheeky and Cor are Fleetway/IPC though?? Anyway, I've already used the site's annuals section in compiling my list, and I think my list is complete, but there's the possibility that I've ignored a title listed on the site because I didn't realise it was DC Thomson (the...

Why Topper is so sadly missed
Having said that, I've just seen some of Dandy's latest of Beryl, and it seems to have gone back to more of a hyperactive, chaotic character. Still sort of misses the point of the original though..

DC Thomson Annuals
I mean comics that are humour/adventure in one comic, like dandy etc, as opposed to entirely adventure. Sorry, I didn't make that very clear, I should've just said humour. *edits post again*
