Re: What comics did you buy today?
I do like the cover of that Buster comic. An All-Colour Buster? In 1992? I didnt realise Buster went full colour before the Beano and Dandy did. This was a couple weeks ago rather than today. But I went to my first car boot sale of the season. Surprisingly lacking in comics, I didnt see any at all u...

Re: Some interesting observations about collecting
I find early Beano and Dandy Comic Libraries from the 1980s very common but later issues and fun size Beanos and Dandys are pretty rare. I assume because of lower sales and lower print runs. Which is probably also why Dandy's from after the mid-90s aren't so common.

Re: Where Are The Best Places to Buy Comics These Days?
I tend to buy most of my comics off eBay. The only problems I've had with buying stuff of eBay is annuals missing pages. But I've managed to get (partial) refunds when that was the case and I've had that same problem buying stuff in actual shops too. Regarding buying stuff offline, charity shops, 2n...

Re: 2024 Annual previews
That Beano annual cover is what they're using in the current comic (its in the 85th anniversary issue at least) to just advertise the comic.
Its weird they're using it for both the annual and adverts.
It's a shame the DC Thomson shop's closed. I guess most people just bought the stuff off Amazon.....

Re: Star Wars UK Monthly Comics Prices Marvel
Probably down to a small print run plus high demand from Star Wars collectors.
Must be lots more Star Wars collectors out there than British Comics collectors.

Re: Which British comic series have been adapted for TV or film and which British TV series have been adapted into comic
I just learnt that a Dan Dare TV Series was made back in the early 2000s. Here's a link to an episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeRgI2dFrZE From what I've read on Wikipedia it aired on Channel 5 which is probably why I never knew it existed. Its early 3D computer animation and from...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?
This is something I read on one of the Beano collecting facebook groups and I'm not sure how well this image is gonna look on here. But some Beano comic libraries sold for loads on eBay recently. I'm not the buyer, I dont properly collect them. But over £300 for the last 18 issues... https://sconten...

Re: To buy or not to buy
Was the boy's own paper much more collectable in the past? I doubt anyone is left alive who read it as a child in its hey day. I just looked up how long it lasted. It started in 1879 ended in 1967, thats 88 years. Its still beating the Beano. But 1967 isnt too long ago there should be people alive w...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I picked up a copy of one of the Beano comic libraries for a few pennies. Its one of the early Baby Face ones and there were a couple interesting things in it. The dialogue is bizarrely formal, which sounds unnatural and weird but it's funny. The plot is disjointed and weird, going on multiple tange...

Its a good one, its the last one with David Law's Beryl the Peril in it.
I managed to beat you on price only cost me a quid.

Re: Dudley D Watkins art for sale
Do we know where this page was actually printed?
Looks like an annual page to me?
But I cant be sure. Actually I'm second guessing myself here and I think it must be from the weekly comic because most of the desperate dan annual stories (well at least the ones I have) were over more than 1 page.

Re: Which British comic series have been adapted for TV or film and which British TV series have been adapted into comic
Just remembered another comic strip that was adapted for TV (well kind of). Nick Kelly from the Topper (also known as Send for Kelly). He didnt have his own show but he had a cameo within an episode of the 1996 Dennis the Menace cartoon. He appeared on a TV show within the show.

Re: Which British comic series have been adapted for TV or film and which British TV series have been adapted into comic
Back in the early 2000s, almost every popular Britsih, american or japanese childrens TV series, seemed to have their own comic or a comic strip in another comic. I remember a cartoon network comic full of comics of cartoons from that channel. But since about the late 2000s they dont seem to even do...

Re: Correction for the specials gallery
I came across this thread recently whilst looking at the Comics UK gallery and seeing the Bananaman Summer Special 1991 missing. Looks like the cover for its been added to the gallery now :D I also just realised the Bash Street Kids Summer Specials started in 1994 and the last Bananaman one was in 1...
