I have discovered that a Lot of charity shops (at least around here) chuck out any donated annuals if they have the slightest spine defect and don't accept comics at all!
A couple of shops are now nice enough to let me know if they have that kind of thing!

So I've been collecting comics and annuals seriously for a year and a half now. I don't buy online (no fun there!) so my purchases are limited to car boots, charity shops, 'junk' shops and what people have brought to me (I have a shop as well) I was just struck by how common some things are and how ...

Incidentally, I've noticed that (mine at least) the 1949 beano is a different size to the more or less a4 of other beanos.
Which got me looking for a list of all the different sizes beanos have been over the years - canny find anything.

Two 1952 beanos today (nice condition)
And the beano book for 1958 and Dandy for 1953 (neither in very nice condition at all!)

A bit of a stretch on the comics front I know
Ended up with this very old DC Thomson annual, but can't find a firm date anywhere (one source says 1924 and another 1931.

The Eighties American Doctor who comic book (23 issues) -

I've never comic across numbers that low nowadays. I suppose collectors hang on to the early ones
