Re: Some interesting observations about collecting

I have discovered that a Lot of charity shops (at least around here) chuck out any donated annuals if they have the slightest spine defect and don't accept comics at all!

A couple of shops are now nice enough to let me know if they have that kind of thing!

So I've been collecting comics and annuals seriously for a year and a half now. I don't buy online (no fun there!) so my purchases are limited to car boots, charity shops, 'junk' shops and what people have brought to me (I have a shop as well) I was just struck by how common some things are and how ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Also very nice!

Incidentally, I've noticed that (mine at least) the 1949 beano is a different size to the more or less a4 of other beanos.

Which got me looking for a list of all the different sizes beanos have been over the years - canny find anything.

Anyone have such a list?

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Two 1952 beanos today (nice condition)

And the beano book for 1958 and Dandy for 1953 (neither in very nice condition at all!)

Paid very little so I'm delighted!

Storyland for girls annual

A bit of a stretch on the comics front I know

Ended up with this very old DC Thomson annual, but can't find a firm date anywhere (one source says 1924 and another 1931.

Just wondered if anyone on here knows?

Thanks!

Re: Complete Collections

Eep I have a lot of work tae do.

Only complete sets I have are -

The Eighties American Doctor who comic book (23 issues) -

And the nineties reprints - Doctor who classic comics (27 issues)

I don't particularly like doctor who any more.!

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I've never comic across numbers that low nowadays. I suppose collectors hang on to the early ones
