Bought this evening the 1973 Beezer summer special.

I should have that by early June.

For this purchase, I am blaming Paw Broon.

For years, I was happy collecting my D C Thomson picture libraries and occasionally picking up the odd Air Ace, Battle or War not to mention the odd Micron here and there but I was never too serious about picking up anything that was not D C Thomson. Until 3 years ago, when Paw eventually broke down my resistance and I went from only collecting a few to trying to collect them all.

Well today, I have won the auction for a mini-grail item in my collecting and that is GMS Combat Picture Library Number 1 Sea Hunt.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Holidaying in Ilfracombe.
Coach trip to Bideford for 2 hours
Spotted a charity book shop there so while the wife waited outside and found somewhere to sit I went in.
Inside I found annuals with my type of prices pencilled inside the covers and had to check at the counter just to make sure these were the correct prices..
They were and I bought one Film Fun 1949 at £5 and Radio Fun annuals 1951/1953/1954
At £2 each and I considered it a good haul for a total of £11..
See image---
I wish I could have spent more time in there but I didn't want to annoy the wife who was still waiting outside. :)
I had noticed some Knockout annuals of a similar date in there and who knows what other bargains they may have had?

Yesterday I received over 450 UK comics from the sixties and early seventies from eBay for £150.00. Three large bags full. I've only been through one bag but already a nice selection including lots of Summer Specials including Beano and Dandy SSs from 1970 to 1974 (ten in all) plus Cor!! number 1. Some of the comics are damaged but there should be around 400 in complete condition.

I've got a spare gift for the Cor #1 somewhere

Today's car boot sale smaller than I expected with fewer stalls than normal.
I don't buy many of the modern comics , even less so if they are parts of sets.
Spotted a bag of DC Forever Maelstrom comics for a £1
This was a 6 part set and all six comics were in the bag so I guess I had to buy them :D

In the early seventies some of my older brother's mates came into our bedroom and took handfuls of my comics including Cor!! no.1. It's annoyed me never since.

I've been through the 450 comics and am very pleased with them. Toward the end there was even Six Comics of World War 1. Cover needs repaired but six comics are immaculate. I bought it when it came out so this is a spare. There's also a first volume Look-In with a Frank Bellamy centre spread.

I'll put them in order during the week and list them here.

Bought something I've been wanting for a long, long time but haven't seen up for sale - the Whizzer and Chips Winter Special. Very happy with it, and also probably the first comic I've bought in over a year - maybe even two. Can't wait for it to arrive.

That’s so special that you’ll have to make sure you read it at the best time to appreciate it fully!

Thanks Brian. The set are in lovely condition as well. They have basically been bought and stored for the last 16 plus years! They make my copies look like they have been chucked about over the years.

The reason I have 419 is that when we unpacked, I found that I had the Summer Special which I bought way back when it was new and I have never seen another copy of it. I am going to do as much as I can on a credit list before contacting Archives to see if they can fill in the gaps.
