Help identifying war/battle picture library story!

Hello everyone,

Can you please help me to identify a story from a war comic, possibly a back issue of war or battle picture library? The story revolves around American B17 Flying Fortress bombers and their British (Spitfire?) escorts. The American bomber crews are unfamiliar with the British planes and shoot some of the them down, mistaking them for German attackers. I seem to remember the story culminates in the American and British flight commanders being shot down and ending up in a dinghy together (was it that the American was shot down, picked up by the Brit, then they were shot down by a B17?) As advised in another subforum, I've been keeping an eye out on eBay for any comic that looks related but have had no luck as yet. Can you help?
