DO YOU GUYS STILL GET THE BEANO OR DANDY?

Post by Lew Stringer »

I've always felt that it's important for those of us in the business to keep up with what comics are out there. Anything less is like a footballer not knowing what other teams are in the league.

I buy The Dandy every week because I think it currently has the strongest line up of artists it's had for decades. I buy Beano now and then. I followed Nigel Dobbyn's Billy the Cat serial, and I pick it up whenever something in it stands out, like Hunt Emerson's Little Plum or Gary's Derek the Sheep. (I'll be sure to follow the serial Gary).

Other current British comics I buy regularly (apart from Toxic of course ;-)) include 2000AD, Judge Dredd, Doctor Who, Wallace & Gromit and Rampage. Occassionally I'll buy others such as Spectacular Spider-Man or Action Man if people I know are working on them.

I buy The Dandy now Beryl The Peril isn't rushed, and The Beano often.
However, I think that comics were funnier before my time (born 1981), like the 1977 Beryl annual - my younger brother read that too and was in fits of laughter.
