TV in Comics

British comics have featured lots of TV series over the years, and it'd be interesting to know if anybody has particularly fond (or foul!) memories of any adaptations they read as a child.

To begin with, however, I can't resist this weird image from a 1971 issue of Princess Tina which advertised the return of a TV series called 'Oliver and the Overworld', starring Freddy Garrity of Freddy and the Dreamers.

Image

The strange thing is that, while I was a huge fan of Freddy and the Dreamers during the early 1960s, and actually became a near neighbour of Mr. Garrity during the final years of his life, I have absolutely no memory of this odd-sounding show (though I do recall the song 'Gimme Dat Ding'). It could be that it was never broadcast in the ATV region, or possibly I'd simply 'outgrown' children's television by then, but I'd be fascinated to know if anyone else can remember it.

It certainly looks...interesting! :?

I have vague memories of this programme, which was actually called Oliver in The Overworld. Must have been very early 70s. This is the song I remember, which was presumably the theme tune...

This pull out booklet 'Album of Television Stars' was given away with 'Princess' comic in 1963. I remember watching many of these myself, it also includes Juke box jury, Lucy, and Crackerjack!

Please excuse some being upside down as the booklet is still in the comic.
