I was really pleased to hear last night on Front Row on Radio 4 that Mary and Bryan Talbot's book Dotter of her Father's Eyes has won the Costa (formerly Whitbread?) Biography prize - I haven't read it yet, but it's remarkable for being a graphic biography of Mary herself and Lucia Joyce, James Joyce's daughter - Mary's father was Joycean scholar James S Atherton. It's quite remarkable for a book in the broader "graphic novel" genre to be nominated for a Costa, let alone win one (thus the topicality!)
Truly remarkable would be if it won the overall Costa prize!

Whitbread own Costa, so it was a similar situation to the Barclaycard Premiership becoming the Barclays Premier League. Renamed without an actual change of sponsor.
