So instead of ending Tales after issue 3, as originally intended, it became DWC's successor, and accordingly had the indicia updated to refer to it as volume 3. At least, that's what I think happened.
We don't know what's happening yet. The indicia could just be a typo because it's obviously not volume 3 of Tales from the Tardis. It's only on issue 3 of its first run!

As for why Titan have done a second Doctor Who title it's because they're churning out a lot of product at the moment to compete with Panini.

Sorry to bang on about this but DW Comic and Tales are not available in most of the supermarkets, and I include a big Morrison, a medium Asda, A giant Tesco, a Co-op or Lidl and Aldi. Occasionally in the other Tesco. None of the local newsagents stock them. Unless Titan get better penetration, they'll be stuffed, 'cos this can't be the only part of the UK with this problem.

Not necessarily. None of the Panini comics in that format are available in supermarkets either and they survive.

For me, the only Panini/Titan titles outside of a WHSmith tend to be for the younger kids e.g. Doctor Who Adventures. The only exception being Doctor Who Magazine and Doctor Who Comic. I have seen both on and off in my local Sainsbury's and Tesco.

However, no Tales From The TARDIS. So to me, if one of the Titan Doctor Who titles are going to go, I would have thought it would be Tales From The TARDIS.

Funnily enough, if I go to Tesco in Purley Way, they seem to stock the full set of Titan and Panini comics. Strange how it changes from shop to shop.
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Monster Fun (2022-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-).

Again, as Smiths rarely display it in the right area of the shop I would imagine that has badly damaged sales. The smaller format Tales stands a better chance because it's on the shelves where the target audience are more likely to look, next to the media mags and other comics aimed at that age group.

Unless they make Doctor Who Comic smaller to match first? Sounds sad to get rid of the comic just because of its size (especially if Tales From The TARDIS is faring better which is practically a carbon copy).

Well, went into a WHSmith in a M62 services and saw both Doctor Who Comic and Tales From The TARDIS sitting side-by-side.

What I theorised is now confirmed. DWC 2.6, not officially out until this coming Thursday, has already turned up at Forbidden Planet London, according to someone on Gallifrey Base. It advertises TFTT 4 but not DWC 2.7, effectively confirming the end of volume 2.

Just got Doctor Who Comic volume 2 issue 6 through the post.

Just to back up what Digi says, this month's issue included a letter (see attached) from Titan telling me that Doctor Who Comic will become Tales From The TARDIS as of next month. I suppose this is nearest thing to a merger that we will get in the early 21st century.

So all questions answered and I don't have to worry about subscribing to Tales From The TARDIS anymore.
