THE PANELOLOGIST #5 - 1976
Published by George Barnett

The fanzine review page is depressing - Only in the fact that it hints at just how little I've only scratched the surface so far.

That's counterbalanced by the photo page, which makes me 'slightly' less embarrassed about my own hair around the same time this was published ;)

Interesting to see that the Lee V Kirby fight was in full swing 40 years ago... Not much different now really...

Ah, they were the days. Drawing a joke I'd heard in a pub. I'd forgotten about Dawg. Cringing at the crudity of my artwork. :)

Good to see those examples, especially that Talbot cover. I have a run of 'Heart of the Empire', as well 'Brainstorm', 'Mixed Bunch', and 'Amazing Rock and Roll', with 'Luther Arkwright', and 'The Omega Report', great stuff.

Dennis Gifford did a good editorial in 'Brainstorm' as well.

Just one more thing does anyone have an example of 'Scumworld' he did for 'Sounds'?

First upload of the New Year:

ASPECT #2 - 1970
Editor - Steve Moore
Cover by Jim Baikie

Wonderfully surreal 'Tales of Hyperborea' Strip by Steve Parkhouse and Barry Smth (with a great homage to Kirby on the 'Paradox Man' section). Great atwork from Steve Parkhouse and Alan Hunter, too.

He also did some stuff for Fantasy Advertiser. There are more examples of his work from that period on his Facebook page, too :D

Heck, listening to stuff about Bowie on the radio, and need to cheer myself up a bit...
Today's zine upload...

ARKEN SWORD #15
By Paul Duncan (1985)

A lovely cover, and a huge 20 page interview with Ian Gibson (his first I think). As well as his early and 2000 AD strips, Ian talks about working with Steve Parkhouse on stuff for ORPHEUS, which I'm guessing was for the second issue, that never saw the light of day.

A couple of lovely, early strips with art by Dave Gibbons. Includes a letter from Fredric Wertham (Boo! Hiss!, lol), and an article on EC Comics by Haydn Paul.
Many thanks to Ron Tiner for his scanning of this issue.

Nostalgia overload. Fantasy Advertiser was the first fanzine I bought. The fanzine reviews in it made sure that it was not the last.

COMICS FORUM #4
(Journal of the Comic Creators Guild)
By Guy Lawley - Summer 1993
Cover by Paul Smith

Interviews with James Robinson, Stan Lee, and Alan Moore.
Three very different interviews; One conducted one-on-one, one conducted at a very public U.K Comic Convention, where Stan Lee is doing his best PR work, the other the result of a more private gathering, at a pub... with beer...
