I wasn't buying Buster at that time, but is there any mention on the cover of a pull-out booklet or poster? Seems strange that three copies all have the same pages missing.

no mention of a pull out but the 9/12/78 cover mentions robbie the robot ivor lott story is on page 16 but in mine was page 15 as pages are unnumbered and even hanah11zoe said this in a message to me as all their 3 copies is the same.i have just checked my 2/12/78 is 32 pages numbered then 9/12,16/12 was 28 pages unnumbered,my 23/2 is 28 pages unnumbered then my 6/1/79 is 32 numbered pages.i dont have 30/12 can anyone confirm last 4 dec 1978 issues was short 28 pages or am i just unlucky.i am currently working my way throuh over 1600 busters coynting bloody pages now lol.

It could be possible those two weeks were victims of the industrial action which saw Cheeky Weekly, Whizzer and Chips and Whoopee disappear for three issues.

In Cheeky Weekly issues dated 2/12/1978 and 9/12/1978, the comics' page count was reduced from 32 pages to 28, then there were no issues on the 16/12, 23/12 or 30/12/1978.

It leads me to wonder if the IPC comics that were still on sale during this period, also suffered from a reduced page count. :?

I'll certainly have a look Bri. I was buying the Buster every week at that time so my copies will certainly be as they were published.

Thanks Andy, and for resupplying my password! Yep, checked last night and both issues of mine have only 28 pages, and there is no mention in either of them of any sort of centre-page pull-out section. D.

i noticed the issues before those and after the xmas issue are 32 numbered pages and those dec issues are not numbered so perhaps there was few printing problems and hoping people wouldn't notice put out thinner issues for a few weeks and not numbering pages.thanks for the research guys.i wish i hadn't binned em now but i do still have 16/12.so the search is on for 9/12 again lol.

In future it might be a good idea to remember this simple rhyme:

The page count may not pass muster.
But for gawd's sake don't bin that Buster.

(This rhyme came easily from my lips
But I'm sure glad it wasn't Whizzer & Chips)
