Nipper collected

Post by big bad bri »

i have just seen on twitter via down the tubes that the entire saga of Nipper Lawrence has been collected in Croatia in 6 lovely looking hardback books. 2000ad/Rebellion you need to get on this for us as i've always liked nipper since i read it in Tiger then Roy of the rovers reprints.

Totally agree Nipper is a great strip, the early ones with Tully and Solano are particularly special.
Let's be having them Rebellion

That's usually the case. Same applies to our UK editions of Asterix, Tintin, and Nemi. It wouldn't take too long these days using computer fonts.

I'll add my vote for a Rebellion Nipper collection of the early material too!

I always wondered why I preferred fleetway picture libraries to Commando and then, many years later, realised it was because they were hand lettered. Hand lettering gives a warmth to the strips.

I remember in my youth having a trial as a letterer for Fleetway. They said they'd call me but never did.

Agreed. I hand letter my strips for The Dandy Annual and Doctor Who Magazine, directly onto the artwork.
Plus although my strips for Toxic, Beano, and Epic are lettered with fonts by the staff I still letter the sound effects. Always enjoyed doing those.
