i now have it as Rebellion very kindly sent me a complimentary copy :D but it should have been made clear that this issue wasnt included in your subscription as i wonder how many people are waiting for it still only for it never to arrive and they miss out in the shops .

It's on sale in the shops until May so hopefully they'll still find a copy when they realise it's not part of the subscription package. To be fair, I don't think summer specials and the like have ever been part of a comic's subscription have they?

The Christmas issues are part of the regular continuity, just triple-sized, so it's natural they'd be part of the subscription. Specials are separate publications. The distinction was made on blogs and comics news websites, but I guess if some people don't read them...

I think it is reasonable to expect the onus of communicating the distinction to be on the publisher itself and any official communications therefrom, actually...

They do. It's stated on the website's subscription page:

"Each annual subscription will receive 49 weekly issues of 2000 AD, this includes the scrotnig 100-page Christmas special, which covers the holiday period."
https://shop.2000ad.com/catalogue/SUBPRG12MP

The specials are indicated as a separate section:

I suppose the 40th has to be included with the likes of the holiday and winter specials but i actually thought it fitted in between progs 2019 and 2020,like the xmas progs used to fit in between regular issues, its my fault for not being up to date in my reading of them etc

Only if you use sellotape after you've pulled the pages out. That spread isn't printed in the centre pages.

With the 2000AD specials, unless I am lucky finding one at a shop, I buy online off its website.

With The Dandy I do have better luck in WHSmiths (but aren't they printed specifically for them or was that only a 1-off?).
