Re: Ken Hunter The Jellymen Iron Eater
Just done a blog post on Ken Hunter..
trying to find other comic work he did...
Mighty Mik looks like his style Beezer 1985?
Mr Licko and his lollypops 1980?
Found another one you mentioned in the jellymen post
KH's 'Barney's Barmy Army'.
I'll add that to the second post I'll do on Ken..
I have an example of this in the 80's Beezer comic..

Mr Licko and Mighty Mik are both Ken Hunter. Ken always seemed to be given these light comedy adventure strips to draw rather than out and out adventure strips like the Jellymen. Big Fat Boko, Sir Laughalot, Big Chief Running Chump, Mick on the Moon, Hornet Wilson, Danny's Tranny were all in this vein in Topper and Beezer. As well as his work for the comics he did do the odd strip for the girls papers and even the Hotspur picture paper early on, usually with Nature or animal themes. I've always thought, when in more serious mode, his style and that of Charlie Grigg were rather similar and open to similar uses.

As far as I'm aware DC Thomson never credited Ken Hunter's comic strips, so I was intrigued yesterday to discover this step-by-step painting course featured in the first five issues of Diana (for some reason I'd never noticed the author's name before).
As you can see it's written by one Kenneth B. Hunter FRSA, MSIA whose photo is also printed - and while it's always possible that this is an entirely different artist from the one who drew 'The Jellymen' and 'Danny's Tranny', the fact that he signs himself as just plain 'Ken Hunter' makes me think they are almost certainly one and the same. If so, I must say that I'm impressed to hear he was a fellow of the Royal Society!
