John Celardo RIP

Post by philcom55 »

I doubt if many people in the UK remember John Celardo anymore - unless it's for his rather heavy-handed inking at DC Comics during the 1970s. During the 1950s, however, his name would have been familiar to many via the weekly Tarzan Adventures comic which serialized a great deal of his then-current work on the syndicated strip. Though not by any means the best of the Tarzan artists I think this scan from 1957 shows that he was at least capable of holding his own alongside the likes of Foster and Hogarth.

Sadly he died last Friday at the age of 93.
