RIP Douglas Phillips

Post by BeanoMark »

It is with deep regret that I pass on the news of the death of former DC Thomson artist Douglas Phillips. He was 85.

Well known in comic quarters for his work in The Rover and The Victor (Braddock) and talented illustrator of over 100 children's books, he was especially a gifted landscape painter renowned throughout Scotland and the UK.

He was also very proud of being the 'hand' of J Campbell Kerr, producing over 1,000 painted covers for The People's Friend.

He leaves behind a daughter, Deborah, and son-in-law, Mark.

Tragically, his death follows that of his wife, Margaret, who passed away only three weeks ago. May they rest in peace together.

Sad news. Thanks for letting us know Mark. That 'Target was Turin' page is superbly atmospheric.
