Who drew this?

Post by peace355 »

Hi all, I'm new to the boards, but have been lurking around for a while :)

Anyway I wondered if anyone knew who the artist for this story was?
It's from a Judy annual

What's the name of the story? It would make it a lot easier to look up.

Looks to me like it could be John Richardson.

I can see why you might have thought John Richardson but I'm not sure. Looking closer at the face I think this may actually be the work of John Cooper?

Is it the sole illustration for this story? If not, could you post others, please?

The story is "The Theatre" its from the 1984 Judy annual
Here's two more panels from it:

I don't think it is John Cooper, but I can sort of see why you would think it Shaqui. The style is hauntingly familiar but I can't think why.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Thanks Peter, for the link :) It's still in early stages!

Thanks for the feedback it is hard to pin down some artists, the art really caught my eye first time I saw it, I'll have to keep an eye out for more work by him, whoever he is :)

The way the artist draws the young woman's face in the first, and the profile of her, is very similar to John Cooper's usual style but none of the rest is. I'll have a rethink.

Could it be Ana Rodriguez? She did some stories for the British market.

I know this is an old post, but in case anyone is interested the artist was Russ Nicholson, who was Sean Phillips art teacher at school!
