John Cooper R.I.P.

Post by Lew Stringer »

Sad news. The artist John Cooper has passed away after a brief illness.

I've posted a short tribute on my blog but I'm sure many of you will have your own fond memories of his work.

:(

Not a name I was familiar with, though I loved M.A.C.H 1 as a kid.

Johnny Red looks right up my street too, so I'll have to hunt that down.

R.I.P.
Only yesterday came across two stories illustrated by him in a Thunderbirds collection I got out of the library.
Is it weird to have no interest in keeping or collecting free gifts?

John done some early 80s Judge Dredd strips, I recall: indeed, he may even have contributed to a very early [1977] strip on this character but I have to check.

Mugger's Moon from issue 19.

I have changed my avatar on Facebook to reflect one of his drawings that I am fortunate to own. While I never knew him, I will miss him. :(
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!
