Another look at DC Thomson's Plug comic, from the late 1970s...

There's possibly only six people on the planet who'd be interested, but I've took it upon myself to review every Viz knock-off I can get my hands on. Duck Soup and DoodleBug have been done so far, lots more on the way!

I've just wasted quite a bit of time trying to post a comment about (Pip, Squeak and) Wilfred on your blog, TwoHeadedBoy, because the system denied me access. From a list made up of Google account, Live journal, WordPress, TypePad, AIM and OpenID, I chose OpenID as the one I thought the most appropriate, given that I don't have a Google account and I didn't have a clue what the others were, and then typed in my comicsuk username. When I had written the post I clicked on Preview and got a message in red saying Your OpenID credentials could not be verified. Clicking on Publish got me the same message. I never had this problem making comments on Lew Stringer's blog, nor do I now on his revised version of it. He has a sensible and easily-understood system, where your post just needs to be checked out by him before it sees the light of day. Having just spent more of my precious time writing this post, I can assure you that I will be ignoring your blog from now on.

Well cheers anyway - those are the default settings that I have there, the ones that enable the least amount of spam to get through. Never had anyone else reporting any problems, but I'll look into it.

OpenID requires registration, but is linked to multiple other services. If you have an account already (which I don't think you do), the log in is not your Comics UK username, but would be a website address or a email login.

Thank you for responding, Digi. I do, of course, have an email address, but the problem I had with getting access to TwoHeadedBoy's blog is that, unlike Lew, he doesn't offer Name among the choices. So he's just going to have to whistle in the wind rather than read my interesting and revealing information about Wilfred.

I don't know why you're being so stand-offish over all this - the amount of blogs I've seen flooded with "anonymous" trolling and bile is upsetting. If people can't hide behind anonymity then they won't get abusive as easily.
And when people have moderation turned "on" they're invariably accused of hiding the negatives. I've looked around in the Blogger settings for a "Name" option and can't find any, so I'll be keeping things how they are, thanks all the same.

I told you in my previous post that Lew Stringer has a
Name option, so you clearly didn't go to the obvious place. I also said that Lew imposes a waiting period after someone posts a message, long enough for him to determine whether the reply is legitimate or spam. If it is spam, or obviously offensive, the post is binned and the writer blocked. You could try that system yourself. I'm sure he will help out if you ask him.

I do my blog for fun, and as a hobby. I'm not letting aggressive messages dictate the way I do things, so they're staying exactly how they are.
Had you approached in a more polite way (eg. "Sorry, I can't comment on your blog, but I was going to say this"), I might've worked a way around things. But with your attitude I just don't want to. With the amount of "precious time" you've spent complaining you could've set up several Google/OpenID accounts by now.
So I'll just keep on whistling down the wind, thanks - I'm sure I'll survive without your interesting and revealing information about Wilfred.

1991's
Comic Relief Comic. In full!
Characters from the Beano, Dandy, Viz, 2000AD, Marvel, DC, Doctor Who, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and RoboCop all in the same comic. Lots of fun.

Your link is to the editing page. Needless to say, access denied! Here's the correct link.

Will Digi be the first comicsuk veteran to break the 6000-post barrier? Bookmakers are no longer taking bets!
