I've posted my first fireworks post for the year, this one looking at the 1958 Beano and 1959 Dandy fireworks issues. I plan to post some more over the next few days, provided I can find enough comics.

a cracking, fizzing, explosive blog entry, George-----
---the old fireworks editions of comics were such a joy and a great shame the thought police put the lid on these, regarding being depicted in strips.

Re: Fireworks Fun
Glad to hear it, Lew!
Wonder what brought about this [very welcome] back-to-basics policy, after years of neglect?
The Postman Prat image looks more fantasy-bound than the older-style more-down-to-Earth fireworks tales of the older era, which more closely resembled real-world fireworks displays.......maybe that's how the writers of 2011 got around it?
Even the most impressionable kid is unlikely to try and tie giant fireworks rockets to his dad's van in order to jet-propel.........I guess?!
