Anyone able to help with reading version of Moonchild?

Discuss all the girls comics that have appeared over the years. Excellent titles like Bunty, Misty, Spellbound, Tammy and June, amongst many others, can all be remembered here.

Anyone able to help with reading version of Moonchild?

Post by comixminx »

Hi folks - graphic novelist Hannah Eaton is writing a talk to be given in mid-November, in which she aims to draw on the Misty story Moonchild amongst others. Thing is that she doesn't currently have a copy of the story and doesn't want to only rely on her memory. Does anyone have scans of this at all that they would be willing to pass on to her?? (I did look at the 30th Century Comics list of comics and gulp, the prices of that title are very high indeed!)

If anyone is up for it, please PM me and I will send on her email address so that it can be sent direct. Thanks in advance!

I think the whole series was reprinted in one of the Misty Annuals - though offhand I'm not sure which.

Hannah E thinks it was in the 1983 annual, not that she has that either, and nor do 30th Century Comics.

Blimey Marck! That's a bargain in terms of reading volume for the ££. Am astounded at the cheek of the seller though - saying everything s/he sells is in the public domain indeed. Very likely (not).

Thanks anyway, I will certainly pass the link on.

Yes, the frase "public domain" is used a bit too often on Ebay.

CDs like these are almost always, if not actually always, illegal. I have nevertheless seen hundreds of similar compilations on sale at London Comic Fairs, and I have myself bought several CDs, each with lots of old radio programmes such as Much Binding In The Marsh, Itma, The Navy Lark, Take It From Here, Round The Horne, and Beyond Our Ken. Hundreds of hours of entertainment, but as they are MP3s I can only play them through my computer.

To clear up the uncertainties expressed in Phil Rushton's and comixminx's posts above, I can report that Phil mentioned in a post that he wrote on June 8 2009 that all 53 pages of Moonchild were subsequently reprinted in the 1983 Misty annual.

Regarding your MP3s of old radio shows, they should be playable on a DVD player.

The legal editions are readily available to buy also. They'll cost you more but at least you won't be supporting piracy.

It turns up on eBay from time to time.

At the fair on Sunday that stall had some cds of the old Pirate radio stations such as Caroline and Veronica. The fact the original material was also illegal is ironic.

Amazing. Thank you, David, that would never have occurred to me. I have played about ten minutes of an episode of Much Binding In The Marsh, with Richard Murdoch and Kenneth Horne, and the clarity is excellent.

I thought I had definitively clarified that issue this morning, Tammyfan, by reproducing accurate information provided by Phil in 2009. Are we now to accept that Moonchild is formed of two separate words?
