Re: Misty Volume 2
Isn't the cover just gorgeous? I reckon it's even better than the cover of the first one.
Re: Misty Volume 2
The reprint volume is great stuff. I wish The Sentinels had been given more episodes in the first place. There were so many things that could have been developed more.

Re: Misty Volume 2
About a month to go before The Sentinels reprint and follow-up raise the issue of parallel-world Hitlers in comicdom. So here is another alt-Hitler who appeared briefly in the Jinty story "Worlds Apart", in a fantasy world where sport rules everything - even war! So the alt-Hitler here has to fight World War II as...well, see for yourself.
In the story, six girls are finding their dream worlds becoming reality after they are affected by a strange gas. The worlds in the story are: fat world, sports world, fairy-tale world, crime world, intellectual world, and horror world. Wonder what the alt-Hitlers in the five other dream worlds would be like? More information on the story can be found at https://jintycomic.wordpress.com/2014/0 ... part-1981/

Interesting that the followup to "The Sentinels" (see the sneak preview at http://downthetubes.net/?p=40880) gives the name of the road where the Sentinels are located.
And among the theories about the Sentinel was that it hosted "the beast of Birdwood" and it was a gateway into Hell (now that one is getting warm).

Wow, I didn't expect the back cover to be so gorgeous! Imagine if they printed the serial itself in colour!Lew Stringer wrote:Preview of a few pages from Misty Vol.2, which is out next month:

Re: Misty Volume 2
I'm imagining how expensive the book would be if they did. I think it's fine in black and white though. It was drawn for mono, with all the balance of black/white, and shading that entails, so colour wouldn't improve it, in my opinion.Tammyfan wrote:Wow, I didn't expect the back cover to be so gorgeous! Re: Misty Volume 2
At least we can see the Sentinel itself in colour. And now that we can, we can see just how seedy and rundown it has become because nobody dares to live in it - except for the idiot Mr Richards, who kept dismissing all those warnings about it.Lew Stringer wrote:I'm imagining how expensive the book would be if they did. I wonder how the Sentinel got its power? It might be something the followup will address. The original didn't.
Re: Misty Volume 2
Could "The Sentinels" have been an influence on this story, which appeared in Tammy & Jinty, 13 March 1982? Like the Sentinel, the apartment block in this story hosts a dark secret that involves a mysterious twin and a gateway into a...not very nice place.

Re: Misty Volume 2
The story "Keep Out" definitely looks as if it was intended to be a Misty story at some point.
Re: Misty Volume 2
I wondered that too, especially as it has four pages - the length of a complete Misty story.helsbels wrote:The story "Keep Out" definitely looks as if it was intended to be a Misty story at some point.
Re: Misty Volume 2
Interesting that in “Return of the Sentinels”, one theory people had was that it housed a gateway into Hell. Though not quite right in the case of the Sentinel (but not too far wrong), it was exactly right for this apartment block.Tammyfan wrote:Could "The Sentinels" have been an influence on this story, which appeared in Tammy & Jinty, 13 March 1982?
