I didn't look for The Tides And Trina or When The Clock Strikes Twelve because I have spent over three hours on this reply, having downed tools on my listing of the serials in Bunty in order to respond to a request for information, information that nobody else seems to offer, and I am weary. With the benefit of hindsight I shouldn't even have started out on it as it was obviously going to take ages. This is why I took some time out from the Forums. Clearly I didn't take enough. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, Lorraine, and I am very aware of how excited you must have been when Alison gave you all that information, but I am going to have to withdraw again from everything except my work on Bunty because that work is taking me closer to the point where I can start to work seriously on my proposed book on Thomsons' eleven titles for girls, a volume that I'm sure you are looking forward to reading as much as I am to writing it.

Thank you for the information, I appreciate it. Although I request information sometimes, please don't ever feel obliged to stop what you're doing to reply. If I don't get an answer to my questions, it's not the end of the world, your own well being is more important.

I do look forward to reading your book when it is finished, in the meantime take care.

Thank you for that reaction, Lorraine. I will look for the information details on the other two titles tomorrow morning when my energy allowance for the day will have been renewed. But then it's back to the pile of issues of Bunty for 1968, which I had intended to deal with this afternoon but didn't get round to.

Here are the details on the two Tracy serials I was too tired and irritated to search for yesterday.
When The Clock Strikes Twelve 126 (Feb. 27 1982) - 135 (May 1 1982)
The Tides And Trina 200 (Jul. 30 1983) - 207 (Sep. 17 1983)

I'll be returning to the Forum when I have completed my listing of the serials in Bunty, but not before. I will be resuming that task at some point later this afternoon. About thirty-two years worth of serials still to cover. Don't hold your breath.

Debbie : A friend for Pam - circa 29/9/81
This photo story started in Debbie 449 (Sep. 19 1981), replacing "Granny Must Go!", and ended either in 451 (Oct. 3 1981) or 452 (Oct. 10 1981), neither of which I have in my collection. It appears to have been replaced by Glitter Girl, the episode of which in 453 is definitely not its first, so just with the information available to me I would opt for a 451 ending for A Friend For Pam. I don't know whether you feel the same way as me, Lorraine, but in my opinion photo stories demand to be printed on glossy paper at least, but preferably in colour as well, if they are to be taken seriously by their readers. As with The Randell Road Girls, the presentation of Glitter Girl is just so drab. A serial with a title like Glitter Girl demands so much more than basic newsprint if it is to be genuinely persuasive.

Thanks for that. I agree photo stories are particularly bad on cheaper paper. Sometimes black and white can work okay on glossy paper depending on the type of story "The Strange Story of the Demon Cradle" for example. A story with the title Glitter Girl though, does seem to be wanting colour and sparkle!

Girl 2 had her stories in black and white and while not cheap newsprint, was not glossy paper. Princess 2 had two photo stories in colour, which was nice, but on the same newsprint. Then she switched to the cheaper newsprint and style that Tammy had. Eventually Bunty went to glossy paper, which enabled her to print high quality photo stories in colour.

Yes, that happened with issue 1658 (Oct. 21 1989). Even the serials in black and white were a much more comfortable read from that point on.
