Although the DFC in its weekly form is no more (for the moment, at least), some of the strips are being given a new lease of life in book form, starting next year. Lots of info on Sarah McIntyre's blog:

Brilliant! I think the books have a better chance than the comic did, as they'll find their own age group instead of trying to be all things to all ages in an anthology.

I was a bit puzzled with this about David Fickling though: "He says it's going to be a struggle, because as of yet with the top retailers, no real comics market yet exists in the UK, so we're really going to have to push to create one".

I'm afraid this ignorance of the work that many of us do in the industry is something that originally peeved me about The DFC promotions and I'm sorry to see the myths keep coming. I really cringe at such salesman's patter. The UK comic market may be much smaller than it was, but it's existed for over a century and recent books such as Bryan Talbot's Grandville and Egmont's The Rainbow Orchid are proving the UK graphic novel was being accepted by top retailers before this run of DFC books was even announced.

That said I do of course wish the DFC books every success and hope to see all the material eventually collected and appreciated by the wider audience that it deserves. But a bit less hyperbole and less reinventing the wheel would be nice. It's tough enough as it is to get the public interested in comics without people within the industry ignoring us too.

I suppose so... though perhaps if some serials were unfinished (in the comic, but with all the artwork done) at the time of cancellation perhaps they will be released complete.
