though one guy was most persistent and when he found his posts weren't appearing to the public (I set them so only the mods could see them, so we could see what he was up to) he got enraged and posted the most appalling child porn
Haha, i always assumed these were just machines doing it, like the "crawlers" used by search engines. If, on the other hand, it's possible to make them get angry...

A lot of our spammers come from @sify.com email addresses or have IP addresses that resolve to Bharti Broadband or Bharti Airtel in India. So if you ever see any of those, keep an eye on them! We would ban the whole domains except we don't want to risk some poor innocent person who needs health support being blocked, and at least this way we know what domains to be wary of.

Just a wee request... if you find a spammer before we do, tell us and ignore them. Means we can delete them without having to edit or delete your replies, as I did this morning...

Tried to report that, but someone already did. You I presume, Steelclaw? Anyway, either Al, Andy or Col should delete that thread.

Not really. You weren't the only one who'd replied to that thread. :P

Actually, I think it was me. I didn't realise posts couldn't be reported by more than one person (and I took it for granted that someone already had, seeing as the thread had two replies already!).

I clicked on the report icon, which is a red exclamation mark in the bottom-right of every post.

Soon after this, I pressed the back button, accidentally landing myself back at the URL of that button, except it had been replaced by a message saying "This message has already been reported." I'm not sure if that meant the same post couldn't be reported twice, or if it just couldn't be reported twice by the same user - the wording (and Digifiend's experience) suggested the former.
