They've really gone to town with that 'fashion and democracy' thread - which was stupid because it didn't have anything to do with democracy (how exactly are the two linked anyway?). They also added spam posts to the John Sullivan thread.

The spam additions are always random. But this is another spammer that has bit the dust. This one was from an IP in Germany, so who wants to start singing "Deutsche, Deutsche uber nobody..." :P

ageratraift from Norway has posted 9 spam posts which I just reported. After the terrorism there, you'd think they'd have better things to do... :x

EDIT: And he isn't finished. His post count has jumped up to 22 now. Seems to be replies in the same five threads.

Just caught another one from IP 193.105.210.42 and the name was Pelloax. Hopefully, it should help cut down on the rubbish posts.

Gto rid of a few more. East European countries seem to be on the increase as I have had spammers from Russia, Rumania, Georgia and Moldova in the last week. Do you think they have been reading Fiends of The Eastern Front then?

The new post in the DFC thread is also Spam, creating a linkback to his pernicious site in his sig. They're getting more sophisticated all the time... :x

That was cunning. Seemed to leave a comment that might have been genuine. Quality Comics enthusiast born in 1968 - so Marvelman as opposed to Plastic Man - seemed to work too.

Can I suggest to the administrators that they get together and come up with some way of placing the first post by ALL new posters into a kind of holding bay until they can decide whether the new poster is genuine or a spammer. No genuine new poster will complain about a delay in seeing his/her comments posted, and the spammers should very soon realise that they are wasting their time.

Another forum I'm on prevents people from starting new threads until they have 5 or so posts, which doesn't stop spam replies but at least stops threads about shoes and such appearing in forums where new threads ought to be a cause for excitement (like the DFC)

My suggested procedure would have prevented the recent Tramadol, Frankie Boyle nonsense from Tooknimbgymn from seeing the light of day at all.
