General Election
Re: General Election
Hope nobody's looking forward to the next series of The Apprentice. It's due in Autumn, but if we have to go the polls again in November, or even sooner, it'll be postponed until next year.

Re: General Election
I’m guessing here, but the possible reason some areas ran out of ballot papers is probably down to low turnout in previous years. If only 50% (or less) of the electorate bother to turn up in some areas, then in future elections their won’t be one paper ordered for everyone on the electoral roles. We now see the consequence of this.

Re: General Election
So GORD'S not quite a 'goner' yet, then, it seems.......
Re: General Election
He's resigned, he's only staying on until the party elect a replacement. Just in time for the next election the way things are going.

Re: General Election
You could be more right than you suspect. Four days since the election and still no deal struck does not bode well for the stability of whatever government we get. I think a Google into what happened in 1974 may pay dividends.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!
Re: General Election
It looks to me as though the LibDem executive have told Clegg that unless the Tories offer proportional representation in exchange for their support, he must back off and start up talks with Labour. Hell will freeze over before the Tories do something so suicidal. Brown's resignation would only seem to make sense in the light of Clegg's earlier assertion that he could not and would not deal or work with the current Prime Minister. Brown surely hasn't gone before he was pushed but rather as a prerequisite of a LibDem/Lab pact that is already agreed if not yet signed and sealed.

Before we all feel sorry for GORD, he can take solace in the fact that TONY BLAIR has amassed a personal fortune of around 22M since leaving office, thanks to those gullible yanks willing to pay lavish sums to 'learned limeys' at 'wisdom lectures' in the States....with first-class airplane and lavish food , drink and luxury accomodation thrown into the bargain.
TONE charges a fat fee for the privelige of suckers getting photographed alongside the great man.........GORD can clean up admidst these rich pickings from easily-impressed Americans.
Giving that Scots accents equal box-office gold in the USA at the moment, it's a possibilty that GORD can---at the very least---look forwards to raking in a tidy sum in retirement....no queueing up with the pension book for him.

Gordon has said he's most likely to be doing charity work rather than anything like that, so it'll be interesting to see what he does.
