Some of you will be aware of John's work in preserving comics digitally. This is sad news and I hope you will get a feel for the man and his contribution to comics preservation from this post:-

Hi Paw,

Yes , I am acutely aware of his demise. A sad loss to the scanning community. His work in digital preservation is enormous. A thankless task now but one which ultimately will be celebrated. He will be missed. I did contact a good few comic enthusiasts about his passing but alas it was met with pure derision and non response. I will move past that knowing that the future will look more kindly on him. What he has done is immeasurable and only the future generations will appreciate the full scope of his endeavours.

The Cap.

Retired.

Cap,
Perhaps another discussion on digital preservation should be started elsewhere on comicsuk as it might inform other peoples consideration that, if we don't follow in the footsteps of Phabox, will leave us with a deteriorating resource on paper. This has little to do with the cd-rom discussion on these page, more an effort to preserve for study, works which will become increasingly fragile. John was a major contributor to this effort. I appreciate your reply and thank you for taking the time to write it.
