Friends Reunited closing down

Post by Digifiend »

Friends Reunited is closing down. DC Thomson (which both the BBC and Digital Spy have referred to as DC Thompson, probably because it's spelt that way in the blog post they're citing :x) had given it's original founder back control of it, but he's decided to call it a day.

DCT must have lost a lot of loot on that one--they paid millions to acquire FIENDS REUNITED.

So did ITV - they made a massive loss when they sold it to DCT in 2010.

DCT bought it for only £25 million in 2009. So while they may have lost a tidy sum, I believe they only bought the site to data mine it for the genealogical information within. And at the time, the information was considered to be worth that.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Thanks for clarifying that one, my fellow Scot.
