Strange Hill strip

Listing through some Best of Whizzer and Chips monthlies from 1985 and 1986, I came across this strip Strange Hill nicely drawn by Tom Paterson with an occasional episode by Martin Baxendale. Could someone please tell me the period when the series appeared in the weekly comic?
This looks like the opening episode:

Not precise but it started "circa 1981" according to Fleetway Street.

From memory, that is correct. It ran for about five years, with Nigel Edwards taking over in about 1984.

Martin closely ghosted Tom, but Nigel got to produce a new masthead including a wonderfully dark image of the school on the left hand side.
