FLEETWAY SUPER LIBRARIES

Post by stevezodiac »

I saw this advert in a copy of Tiger, i've never actually seen a super library, can anyone scan a cover or two on here so we can all see what the fuss is about. Steel Claw?

FEAR: The Federation for Extortion, Assassination and Rebellion? Good job they didn't call themselves The Federation for Assassination, Rebellion and Terrorism.

Steve I can't believe you've never seen any. :o

That's the first ad I've ever seen in a comic, there must have been ads in other comics as well 'Lion' 'Valiant'

Total = 78 Fleetway Super Librarys Stupendous/Fantastic - 13 Steelclaw/13 Spider = 26 - Front Line = 26 & Secret Agent = 26 all produced between 1967/68.

They are the same size as Commando.

Fantastic was used only on Issue No.1 it then changed to Stupendous.

Great covers. I remember those Giant Comic Libraries which were twice as tall as the normal issues - a strange concept really. Saw some at the last ABC fair and they bring back memories of me as a child wondering what they were like.

Presumably to avoid confusion with retailers with Fantastic weekly, or perhaps Odhams gave Fleetway a warning about the similarity?
