No Worries Niblet!

Being as your pun was so good,! :) I am posting a Teacher Creature strip, that some may enjoy.

Phil the Tarzan Strip, is from a Monster Fun Comic, which i believe was classed as, a Boys and a Girls Comic?

I'm not sure if this centrespread has been posted before but looking at it this morning I couldn't help being impressed at the skill with which the editor of Monster Fun managed to suggest that the 'Great News!' advertised on the cover actually was kind of exciting - and not the usual message of doom, gloom, and cancellation!

Love it, Phil! It promises a jamboree of joy------a very British enterprize, and a relic of a more innocent , less cynical era.

That's a lovely, fun spread, Phil (although it looks as though the Monster Fun crew are about to run over Buster and pals).

I presume the driver of the MF car represents the Terror TV strip.

The Buster and Monster Fun merge is the only one of which I'm aware where the editor of the surviving comic acknowledged some weeks later (in a Christmas message to Buster readers in this case) that some readers weren't happy about what had happened. I've posted that message somewhere on the forum before.

Here's how news of the impending absorption of Monster Fun was broken to Buster readers...a quick cut-and-paste job and rather less appealing than the centre spread from Monster Fun.

Great poster...maybe we could do a merger poster thread...Whoopee and Wow had a great cover for example by Robert Nixon..also theres been some nice centre pages.

I sure miss these types of comics today from Fleetway..
Buster and Monster Fun was a great combination especially in the Holiday Special.so new stories continued..

As a matter of interest I wonder if anyone can say who drew that Buster/Monster Fun merger centre-spread? One possibility might be the under-appreciated Alf Saporito who seemed to produce quite a bit of editorial artwork for IPC during the 1970s.

Of course it might have been some kind of 'jam' involving several different artists.

The car looks like a Barrie Appleby job, but the characters don't--------

On the comic horror front I suppose Leo Baxendale's 1968 Buster strip 'Mervyn's Monsters' must have been one of the first examples to emerge from Fleetway/IPC.

I think it's possibly Rob Lee, because Kid Gloves looks exactly right. Otherwise Alf. Maybe.
