Sid's Snake was on the cover of Chips for the first issue rather than Shiner as the Whizzer front cover was a full page picture. (Haven't looked at Lew's blog so excuse me if you already know this).

Yes, my blog shows that, Steve. I don't know why you won't look at it. It won't steal your soul or anything, honest.stevezodiac wrote:Sid's Snake was on the cover of Chips for the first issue rather than Shiner as the Whizzer front cover was a full page picture. Its just that I'm in work and whereas I can be furtive looking at text like this bringing up full colour images of Annuals might be a bit of a giveaway that my computer shenanigans are not work related. (Actually I did look straight after my post and saw that you had mentioned it but decided not to omit my message).

Ah I see. I forget that people use work computers for leisure. The last time I worked in an office was way before the age of the Internet and the most advanced technology we had was an 'adding machine'.stevezodiac wrote:Its just that I'm in work and whereas I can be furtive looking at text like this bringing up full colour images of Annuals might be a bit of a giveaway that my computer shenanigans are not work related. Re: Whizzer and Chips - 45th anniversary
W & C appeared just before the family left for Australia, and I had a couple of the early issues. Couldn't find it on the stands when we got to Perth, of course; British comics came by slow boat and we were months behind, getting Christmas issues just in time for Easter! Apart from the value-for-pocketmoney two-in-one format, I mostly remembered the comic for the delightfully nutty Koo Koo Klub and Steadfast McStaunch pages by Denis Gifford.
