Alt Gr+3 would have got you the pound sign, I think.

You can personalise your keyboard by adding all kinds of symbols but if you've got it configured to American English you have the 2/"/@ dilemna and no £.

"Regional and language settings" also allows you to customise how dates are displayed. I always use dddd dd/mm/yy

You may need to put in the Windows CD to install a 'keyboard language' (unless you have that bizarre 'firmware' that some supermarket-nbought PC's from a few years back had, in which case it should do it automatically)

my book shop Waterstone in Woking still didn't have the History of the Beano...should be any day now....I'm sure its out in the big town Guildford...........very excited...may risk the rain to see if I can find it today..
