The Obvious one is Cursitor Doom,
There's Mowser as well from Lion, and when I read it when he was in Lion & Thunder.
Penny Dreadful.

And the Cloak, of course (from POW and later Smash)! Also Grimly Feendish and Eagle Eye (from Wham and Smash). And Captain Hurricane from Valiant. I think I can also see Korky the Cat.

Interesting finds Steve. Did Chips actually announce it was the final issue or did it just advertise its replacement, TV Fun?stevezodiac wrote:Got the week off and have been tidying up my bedroom now have loads of those 39p nice big and square Tesco bags full of comics everywhere, came across some Milestone issues. The Chips final issue cover is in the Comics UK gallery but has been scanned in B&W so here it is in the pink:

Re: COMIC MILESTONES
Nice panel I spotted (I think) Tiger Tim, Wearly Willie and Tierd Tim (or summit like that), Frankie Stein, Robot Archie, Bad Penny, The Cloak, the mother from the Nutts (?),Grimly Fiendish, Eagle Eye Junior Spy (or the man from B.U.N.G.L.E), Captain Hurricane, Dan Dare, Korky (?), Mowser, Gus Gorilla - not sure of the rest who was the Superhero type character with the lightening bolt ???

Just quickly as I'm in the middle of doing the Beano Annual 2011 but....STARBOY wrote:Nice panel I spotted (I think) Tiger Tim, Wearly Willie and Tierd Tim (or summit like that), Frankie Stein, Robot Archie, Bad Penny, The Cloak, the mother from the Nutts (?),Grimly Fiendish, Eagle Eye Junior Spy (or the man from B.U.N.G.L.E), Captain Hurricane, Dan Dare, Korky (?), Mowser, Gus Gorilla - not sure of the rest who was the Superhero type character with the lightening bolt ???
The superhero is Dash Decent, a humour strip Kev O'Neill did for 2000AD. That's not Korky (no DC Thomson characters there as it's an IPC comic), it's a Roy Wilson cat character. Forget the name now. The woman and her son are Marmy and His Ma (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v725/ ... ge1big.jpg).
Yes that's Eagle Eye. The Man From BUNGLE was similar but wore a bowler and glasses.

Re: COMIC MILESTONES
Just looked up Roy Wilson in an attempt to identify that cat character, and found that Lambiek's down...

Couldn't find anything elsewhere specific to a cat character. No Wikipedia article about Roy either.

Re: COMIC MILESTONES
Thinking about it, I don't think the cat has a name. It's one of the animals Roy Wilson used to populate the corners of his comics with. Here's the cat in an original unfinished Marmy and His Ma strip (1930s approx):Digifiend wrote:Just looked up Roy Wilson in an attempt to identify that cat character, and found that Lambiek's down...

Re: COMIC MILESTONES
Typical humour of the era that, Beano and Dandy's early issues had some similar storylines! I can guess what would've happened next. Thanks for that.
Lambiek's working now by the way.

Re: COMIC MILESTONES
Damn,I sure miss comics! After salivating over what any reader could get his/her mitts on in any newsagents back then, makes me sad. At least the Bumper Books are a step in the right direction. Maybe a slew of Summer Specials could be unleashed to bookstores and educational bookstores(you know, the ones where you buy school books etc) to whet the appetites of potential younger readers in this modern age.Demand if sufficient could entice publishers to go all out for a weekly title.
