Ah the infamous Zit. I avoided it like the plague when I heard contributors were owed money from it. Gave sweary comics a bad name.

Then I don't suppose it lasted long? Just noticed it has a Billy Whiz spoof:

This is the mag that made terrible jokes about Anne Diamonds kids cot death. I suppose some people on here would be reluctant to give Viz a go due to poor immitation magazines like this.

A quick trip to wikipedia just surprised me with the revelation that this magazine continued till 2002! Who would have been buying this tripe to keep it going so long?

I also found out that it was this magazine that tried to sue 'spit!' magazine for copyright! funny seeing as its a viz rip off in itself. They all looked the same to me around this period in time I jumble them up quite easily!

As I understand it the comic kept going bankrupt and starting up under new company names, although the comic was always called Zit.

There were loads of Viz imitators around at that time. Most were crap, but the best were Kev F's UT (which even the Viz lads liked because it wasn't a direct Viz clone) and a comic called Spit! which I contributed to.

Just heard Richard Bacon say he would be speaking to Ann Diamond and Nick Owen on his Radio Five show tonight. I like Ann D.

The Billy Sulphate strip appears to be drawn by Paul Palmer, who now contributes to Viz! Small world... His Viz material is miles better than that ropey strip above. He's clearly improved over the years.

A note to everyone who reads this forum who is over 16: BUY VIZ. It is loads better than you probably think it is.

Just looked at the Wiki article myself, and I see it also says they did a video in 1993.

Paul Palmers has done a Tom Paterson spoof in this months Viz which was out today. Although it looks a bit more Martin Baxendale in some peoples eyes with the mixture of styles and amount of panels. Theres a spoof of the Broons in there aswell although I dont recognise the artist, he's contributed before though.
Also Lews Suicidal Syd which sums up the past few weeks news via the medium of a cartoon character trying to kick the bucket!

I think the publishers did an evern less well know Viz style comic called Gutter. Terrible about the 'go' at Ann Diamond.

So unknown that all Google gleaned was the fact the white space between boxes on a comic page is called a gutter.

I found a copy of the final issue of Gutted (No.7 or 8 I think) in an Edinburgh comic shop a few years back. It really was the lowest of the low of the Viz Clones, printed on toilet paper in b/w with a blue spot colour cover and featuring what must be some of the poorest drawn and written comic to ever be professionally published in a high street title! There was one guy in particular who drew stickmen who had a wealth of pages within (he's probably gonna google this and hate me now!)
The comics "best loved" character, The Man Who Collects Eyeballs, survived the end of Gutted and was absorbed into Zit.

Nothing to fear from Google, I already tried, there's nothing about Gutted at all.

The only thing on Gutted is this site, where 'The man who collects eyeballs' featured in it.
