My favourite was Black Max. I don?t know who the artist was but I loved all the detail that went into it e.g. the ripped covers on Pickelhaube?s, spent shell casings etc in his trench pastiches. Shame it all went pear shaped with the ludicrous King Bat story, but the first two years were classic ?Boys Own? stuff.

According to Lambiek it was Alfonso Font who drew Black Max.
