Saturday 10th May and Sunday 11th May feature two full days of events, including presentations on upcoming Marvel and DC releases, the world famous Hypotheticals panel hosted once again by Dave Gibbons

Special Guests signing, sketching and/or hosting talks throughout the weekend include:-

Dave Gibbons - Legend of the British Comics Industry. Artist on HARLEM HEROES, DAN DARE and ROGUE TROOPER which he co-created. He was the original artist on DOCTOR WHO Weekly/Monthly. Most famous for his collaboration with Alan Moore on WATCHMEN. Recently he produced the Eisner Award winning graphic novel, THE ORIGINALS.

Jim Shooter - Editor-in-Chief Marvel Comics 1978–1987

Walt Simonson - Writer / Artist

Louise Simonson - Writer on Magik of the New Mutants

Jim Starlin - Writer / Artist

Tickets for the Bristol International Comic Expo are available online for six pounds per day for adults, or just one pound for 12 to 16 year olds under the Kids For A Quid scheme. The Bristol City Inn and the Travel Inn at Temple Meads are both 'business' hotels that are extremely close to the venue, staying the weekend costs about £100 if you book extremely late. Both times i went to the convention i only decided to go 1-2 days before. Won't be bothering this year, though... most of the stuff i have bought there in previous years has been on sale in any Forbidden Planet, just about £3 cheaper at the con which doesnt really balance out the hotel cost. Not to mention the train cost either...

Ad in Beano Max advertises Nigel Parkinson as attending. I was really chuffed to see the ad - not only is DCT getting the money for advertising, but it should help numbers at the event!

There should be quite a few Dandy/Beano artists there this year. I believe Tom Paterson is going, - his first convention I think! (I've only met Tom once, waayyyy back at the Oink! launch party in 1986. I'm pretty sure he's never attended a comics con before.)
