Tuesday 9th August saw the official launch of “The Story of British Comics So Far: Cor! By Gum! Zarjaz!” at the Lightbox in Woking, which runs until December. Richard Sheaf reports on the opening night which included a talk from Paul Gravett and had a look around the amazing exhibition, which features plenty to appeal to 2000AD, Action, Eagle and other British comic fans: http://downthetubes.net/?p=33175. Not a cosplayer or other media star in sight! :)

This is a great exhibition and one that this Comics UK member could only have dreamt of before. Great content, well laid out, loads of top drawer treasures. It's on to the end of the year so do make the effort.

There have been some very generous loans and it's well worth going along to (but then you know that already as I wrote the review John has plugged)

Many items have been loaned by Pete Hanson - he of the treasure trove barn that I believe Kashgar has visited. To his credit he saved 40 to 50,000 pages of Fleetway art from imminent destruction some years ago and has made a considerable amount available for sale. In the past I've bought pages of the Kelly's Eye Count Varga tale from this enormous stache (although since sold them on to Terry Doyle who is trying to collect the whole story and now has about three quarters of them).
