 :D 76 pages? Wow, I was expecting maybe 48 same as this week's Beano, and certainly not more than 64. Is it on sale for three weeks or something?

- No plastic bag so you can flip through it in the shop
- Harry Hill on the front cover
- Harry Hill comedy pages inside
- Simon Cowell based comedy inside
- and even strips by Lew Stringer, Laura Howell & Nigel Auchterlounie.

Snap!
You must be looking at an old one Kev. This week's is inside a Christmassy foil bag. Laura's not in The Dandy, and I've been working for Toxic since issue 1 eight years ago. Otherwise you're right.
Laura made her Dandy debut last week, with Not-So-Secret Millionaire. Did you not know?

Not sure. I think it's only on sale for two weeks but I could be mistaken.

Really? Is that right? was there a strip by me in the last issue of Toxic?
the current issue is bagged with sponge bob on the cover.
It's highly unlikely that it was me, but it's not un-possible.
What was the strip about? I'll tell you if it really was me.

No, just two. And it's £3.99, a "double issue". And there are one or two surprises...

Thumbed through it in the shop, clearly guessed the artist wrong, and since it was Tuesday it was last week's issue. So, Toxic with no bag and Harry Hill on the cover and Simon Cowell gags inside was nothing like The Dandy, my mistake.

PS: As part of my Comic Art Masterclass I get the kids to suggest a famous person I should draw in the story I do on the flipchart. This year the top three names, pretty much tying for top place and coming up 80% of the time are...?

Simon Cowell
Cheryl Cole
Michael Jackson

Other regularly mentioned are Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, Elvis Presley, Barack Obama, Lady Gaga and The Queen. So, if anyone wants to use that unscientific survey based on the thoughts of (100 schools x 50 kids a day) 5000 schoolkids, be my guest. Oh, Harry Hill occasionally gets mentioned, but only about as often as Elton John.

Kev, Toxic has been spoofing celebs for ages and Dandy Xtreme was influenced by Toxic for three years so I think we can put it down to modern trends. :)

I guess it was the rare chance to thumb through Toxic that made me more aware of its contents. Not bad, though strips few & far between. Which is, of course, why we're all praising the Dandy.

Wow! Sounds great. I might post this in the buying/selling area too, but would anyone here be so kind as to buy me a copy of this Christmas special when it comes out and post it to Australia? I would have course pay for it all via Paypal. PM me if you can do this.

Many Thanks,
Ross
