Funny Face Maker Free Gift

Post by booksandcomics »

I may have taken a slight gamble here, however, I am certain I've just won the Funny Face-Maker free gift given away in the Dandy comic #1772 from November 8th 1975;

It was advertised as being from the Cracker Comic no. 4, however, it looks identical to the one adverised in previous issues of the Dandy;

Korky is holding a red face-maker which looks identical to the one I am eagerly awaiting to be delivered! Also, I amongst the free cards, I recognise Smasher, Korky, Desperate Dan, Bully Beef, Chips, the Sherrif from Whacko!, Hippo from Harry and His Hippo.

Desperate Dan is again featured on the white package (the instructions show what I think is half of Dan's face on a card).

I do not know anything about the Cracker comic nor if any of the characters are amongst the cards. My only concern is that on the other side of the white packaging not shown on in the image might say "Cracker" on it. However, I have noticed that my

Does anyone have an existing one that is known to come from the Dandy to compare it to? I didn't see any mention of "Given away in the Dandy" on the white packaging.

It's apparent that the seller Googled it and found this: http://www.toonhound.com/cracker.htm

But you're right, this clearly isn't the one Cracker gave away, and would in fact be from that Dandy. The Cracker one would've used it's own characters, and not Dan, Korky, Beefy and Chips.

Sorry for the error in the previous post, I was cut short and had to pop out briefly. I will upload some more images of the item once it has arrived.

I'm really hoping it arrives safely and promptly, in all my years of eBaying I have only ever had one non-delivery!

Big annoyance about this though is that, it is always during the times where I least have disposable income for comics that rarer items come up for sale!

Does anyone else have a copy of this for confirmation that it is deffinately not Cracker? I'm still not sure which characters are on the reverse side.

I have the funny face maker but there is no indication which comic it came from (on some of my free gifts I have written the comic title and number in pencil). I have every issue of Cracker but not sure where they are and don't want to spend the day pulling out thousands of comics. According to my checklist there was a funny face maker given away with Cracker # 4. If I get the time later I might have a root around for it.

Just to make you certain that it's the Dandy Funny Face Maker and not the Cracker. Here is the Cracker cover with example faces, none of which are in your free gift.

I hope this clears it up for you.
