Merger with the Beano or e-comic?

Post by SID »

A simple question.

Forgot about logic. Forget whether it is feasible considering the comic styles may be too different for a merger (you could always get the Dandy to go back to "classic mode" before the merger).

But if you had the power, what would you rather do (apart from saving the comic)?

Turn the Dandy into an e-comic?

or

to have that final "Good news inside, readers" and carry out a merger with the Beano?

I have voted for the merger.

For me, I had always thought that if the Dandy (or the Beano for that matter) was going to demise, then it would be merged with its sister comic. It would have been great to have seen classic-style Desperate Dan (sorry Jamie) in the pages of the Beano if there was not going to be a (printed) Dandy.

Maybe I am one of the minority but I did use to enjoy the comic mergers in their heyday. I am not saying that I wanted comics to go but at least it was an event. Such a merger between the Dandy and the Beano would have been major news and the last one ever.

Of course, if I had the power (and the money), I would have kept the Dandy going as it is. :)

Oh well! There's something wrong with the poll. :(

So just post your choice instead. :(

Ugh, polls never seem to work on this message board. This is at least the third case I know of.

I'm hoping there could be a paper copy for subscription only..like Phoneix comic..

merger only if it gets rid of some of the fillers..Fred's Bed facts are good..and no more reprints in The Beano..

I'm gonna vote merger with The Beano but keep The Dandy's name in there as a lasting legacy.

However I would prefer it if we could vote Dandy still going as it's own print comic. :(

i would vote merger because if i ever had an ipad i would not buy the e-comic unless it also had a paper version alongside it because it will never have the same feeling ,smell of a paper comic.
