There wasn't a sequel in Spellbound at least and while I don't have enough Debbie's to be sure, I doubt one turned up there after the merger. Even without a sequel its a good ending, they could have killed Madame and Franz off but letting everyone think they are free and safe and only the reader knowing differently is good, and quite different from how most stories like this would end.

Thank you. I had a feeling there was no sequel, but I thought I'd check anyway. I guess the accident Venner had that scarred her face put her down the wrong path and gives a dash of sympathy for her.

Incidentally, in the early 20th century and probably the 19th too, face masks like the one Venner uses were a popular way to conceal disfigured faces because there was no effective plastic surgery. Dr Poison in the Wonder Woman movie has such a mask.

In the final instalment of Travellers In Time in Bunty, Caroline, a lady who has befriended the two girls Clarissa and Beth, a waif and stray, although she does not believe the girls' story about their having travelled through time, agrees to drive them both to the Manor College Of Art. Clarissa particularly wants to go there as she has seen a poster in an Antiques Shop showing a painting of Beth done by Clarissa's father after the girls have returned home. Approaching the college Clarissa realises that it is, or rather was, Sidworth Manor. They go in. In Clarissa's opinion their best chance of getting back to their own time will be finding somewhere familiar. They go through a door marked STRICTLY PRIVATE and end up in the cellars where Clarissa finds one of her old dolls. They see light ahead so keep going and emerge into their own time. They are immediately told off by a workman for going into the tunnels as they are very deep, not too surprising as they are for what would eventually become the new London Underground railway. They soon become aware of people staring at them because of the short skirts they are wearing, and shortly bump into Clarissa's father. He is out looking for them as they have been away all afternoon. He puts his cape round both girls to ensure their modesty. A few days later Beth returns to the country with Clarissa and her family, who are giving her a home. Clarissa's mother tells her that her father is now talking about turning Sidworth Manor into an Art School but she doesn't think he will go through with it. Clarissa tells her mother that she would not be at all surprised if he did.
