Here's a few preview pages of all the strips in the special. It's good stuff!

Well my copy of Scream! & Misty through the post and read it from cover to cover.

Verdict:. I loved it and it was great seeing some classic characters including one of my favourites from Thunder (no, not Black Max).
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Monster Fun (2022-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-).

Picked up a copy of Scream & Misty today and was suitably impressed (I really wanted the Misty & Scream version but my local Forbidden Planet don't seem to have ordered it!). I particularly liked the surprise 'guest stars', but was especially surprised to see a version of Thunderbolt the Avenger who made his debut in Buster way back in 1965. I know Rebellion bought the rights to Buster comic, but apart from a handful of named characters like Buster himself I was under the impression that they didn't own the rights to any other Buster strips that began in the 1960s. :?

...Of course this new incarnation of Thunderbolt does appear to be very different from the original: I for one really hope we get to see more of her (and the indication at the end that this is only 'the beginning' suggests that we may well do).

(Hmmm....I've just checked and apparently Thunderbolt was one of the named Buster characters Rebellion inherited! )

This was really great, admittedly I hadn't read Scream! before but do find that it and Misty are indeed perfect companions.

I wrote a post on my blog, mostly concentrating on Return of the Sentinels (but didn't want to spoil it either) and also just how impressed I am with the Treasury line in general.

I'm finding this to be a problem with all the Treasury of British Comics books. Most people who work in comic shops haven't heard of those 1970s characters because they're either too young or were so ingrained in American comics they never read them, so they haven't ordered the books. "We didn't think they'd sell because it's really old British stuff" was one excuse I was given. :(

I ordered one from a comic shop who has a shop on eBay but I think he's sold out by now.

I see someone is charging £13.99 for the Misty cover variant. Outrageous! It would have cost him the same as the normal one to buy from suppliers.

That is ridiculous. There's even copies of the other cover selling for £9.99! Why anyone would want to pay that when they could get it elsewhere (or even both covers for less!), it's not like it's out of print!

Bought it and loved it! Great to see the thirteenth floor back!

On a separate note I picked up 2000AD for the first time in yonks as it was on the shelf next to Scream/Misty.

The artwork on Judge Dredd was absolutely atrocious! I know its a different style and all, but my gosh, whoever thought that should have seen print needs to seriously reassess and discover the difference between what's new and interesting and what's downright bad art.

Its terrible.

This reminds me of the last print issue of The Dandy :( . Though you could still buy the comic from DC Thomson's (which I did), people were successfully selling it for a small fortune on eBay. Pure stupidity.

Though do I blame the sellers? Not really. At the end of the day, they sell things on eBay to make money. If people can't be bothered to research the internet and just go for the easy option and accept the inflated price, well...*shrug*. :(

i have just started suscribing to 2000ad this year and managed to pick up all but 1 issue i missed over last say 10 years on ebay.i haven't read it for years apart from the xmas special every year but do intend to 1 day but when i took it out the envelope on saturday i thought the same thing as i had a quick flick through the pages.some stories down the years have had bad art slaine being one its unreadable at times but this latest dredd is really bad, they should let iconic characters have decent art that captures the feel of the original or a good ghost artist and i for 1 am glad wayne thomson does it on bananaman now in the beano where i hated his style for years.
