STRIP Magazine relaunches next Monday! (April 8th)

Post by Lew Stringer »

As most of you know, Strip Magazine is relaunching on Monday 8th April and this time will be available in branches of WH Smith across the UK (as well as in some independent newsagents). A new British adventure comic in newsagents again, at last! Place a regular order at your newsagent now, as they used to say.

More info here with the full list of branches of WH Smith where it'll be stocked:

Let's hope the distributors have been fitted with shock collars, to prevent any more mistakes! This really deserves to succeed.

Looking forward to picking it up. I hope it succeeds. But unbridled optimism is not my forte, so I'm going to sound a note of caution - I'm not sure old King Cobra is going to prove to be a good Dredd substitute (my kids laughed at his name!), and they desperately/quickly need to establish a main, kick ass character to inject some relevance.

Yes, I hope it fares better than Pulp Detective which suffered from some copies not even leaving the warehouse. Hopefully people can report any such failures directly back to Strip if that occurs. It's inexcusable when wholesalers/retailers don't do the job that publishers pay them to do.

I didn't know Strip was coming this Monday but it's a nice surprise. Mine's on subscription and hopefully will be through the letterbox by then. If not, I will be rushing down to the local shops.

Release date postponed

From Strip's Facebook page

Good news: Distributors Warners confirmed STRIP #1 arrived on time at their warehouse. Bad News (sort of): We've been informed this morning that WH Smiths have decided to put the magazine out either Wednesday or Thursday this week, a slight delay on the original date we were given of today. As soon as we know the definite day we'll of course let you know.

Latest update from Strip is that they've been in touch with WH Smith who now say they'll be putting them on the shelves by Friday.

No, I don't know why Smiths didn't stick to their original on-sale date either. Perhaps they were too busy making sure the sandwiches and impulse-purchase chocolate was displayed rather than bothering to be reliable newsagents.

I wonder if anyone has received their subscription? I would have thought we would have got it Monday.

Strip is finally in newsagents. You should find it displayed alongside the Panini Marvel comics, Doctor Who Magazine, Empire, SFX, etc. Just bought a copy from my corner shop.

How's distribution in your neck of the woods folks?
