Unknown Character Query

Post by ComicBat »

Hi Everyone

I am new to this forum and my name is Mark. I always remember a character that I think may have been in the Topper, but Ironically I can only remember the character and not the name. It involved a medieval jester who lived in a tower and had a book that he referred to, to solve problems. I don't think it was a magic spell book, more like a book of scientific knowledge ahead of its time.

Looking forward to any suggestions :)

Mark

Could it be Jingo The Jester from The Topper in 1970 and 1985? He lived in the stables at Creaky Castle.

Sir Laughalot springs to mind, with his fetching red suit of armour, but I don't think it's him.....

Ken Hunter's beautifully clean lines graced both Sir Laughalot and Jingo The Jester, which may be why you are confusing them Rab.

I know that I frequently mix the pair up.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

But I don't think Sir Laughalot has a book. Jingo has his Master Book Of Fun that he consults when constructing things.

Thanks for solving this mystery everyone. I'm now off to google Jingo The Jester and try to find a few pictures :)

I'm not sure if there are many Jingo pages available on the net. Here's one from his second appearance in October 1970:

I probably have every issue of Topper from 1970 - 1972 but they are all tucked away in storage.

phil, how did you manage to upload a full comic page? I've tried and I'm told I can't upload more than 300 kb!

Yes, and I am interested to know how Jingo saved the day.

It's not an attachment, he used Tinypic.
