Nice painting. The Spider's a bit like Rupert; he's one colour (yellow) on the covers, and another (black) in the strips.

...Actually he seemed to wear a different coloured costume every month for his appearances on the covers of the Fleetway Picture Library!

Vanity probably dictated a whole wardrobe of different coloured boots and suits he could mix and match.

Re: Your favourites in Lion comic..
I just got the Steve Holland book about the history of Lion! The problem with the `Spider` scripting was `not` with the `Sinister Seven` story according to the text-but with the later `Ordini` effort! It was rated at Lion as quite poor (I certainly agree) and another ending must have been tagged on by another writer as it is completely at odds with the preceding 19 issues!!

Forgot to ask, Phil, were the Fleetway Library Spider books reprints or originals?

Sue! According to Steve's book - originals with different artists! Reg Bunn only drew the `Spider` adventures in the comic itself 1965-69 and, I think for the Lion annuals cover dates 1968 and 1971.
