Only just read the third issue of Whoopee of 1977 and, already, I have inconsistencies; Robert Nixon drew the first two issues of Frankie Stein this particular year and then, bang, I sensed something was different: Brian Walker drew the 15th Jan. strip. Fun-Fear was also different; Nixon drew the first two (1st and 8th Jan) but the 15th issue is by someone else. Is it Brian Walker? Whoopee groupies - please liase and educate me. Nixon's art is clean and finely delineated whereas Brian Walker's is a little more murky... or is there another artist in the mix here?

Fun Fear in the issue of Jan 15th 1977 is definitely by Nixon although he didn't sign it for some reason.

thanks for that Klak; I just thought i'd seen something different especially with regard to the Fun-fear master's facial expressions. Maybe Nixon did a rush job on that particular issue, explaining why he didn't even have the time to sign it.

The following Whoopee issue, Jan. 22nd, Robert Nixon was back on form and signed both Fun-Fear and Frankie Stein. A strange issue was that 15th Jan. Did Brian Walker do many Frankie Steins?

I researched Whoopee! a few years ago. Assuming my notes are correct and I haven‘t missed anything, the first Frankie Stein by Brian Walker was in the issue of 9th October, 1976. Walker contributed 2 more sets of FS in 1976, two sets in 1977, none in 1978, two in 1979, none in 1980 and 1981, one in 1982, three in 1983, one in 1984 and one in 1985.
He did a lot of Frankie Stein in Shiver and Shake holiday specials and annuals.
